The Cisco DPA Series of voice mail gateways is a family of Voice over IP (VoIP) gateways that enables legacy voicemail equipment to connect to a Cisco IP telephony solution network. The Cisco DPA Series allows Octel voice mail systems, which currently use Digital Station Emulation to connect to an Avaya Definity PBX, or a Nortel Meridian 1 PBX, to instead connect to a Cisco CallManager system without any changes to the voice mail system. The Cisco DPA Series allows the voice mail system to be used solely by the Cisco CallManager or to be shared between the Cisco CallManager and the private branch exchange (PBX). The Cisco DPA Series communicates with the Cisco CallManager by emulating IP phones using an autosensing 10/100 Ethernet port. The Cisco DPA Series communicates with the PBX and voice mail system using 24, digital station lines. The Cisco DPA Series is easily configured using a simple menu system accessed with Telnet. The Cisco CallManager is easy to configure it can even be done automatically using the auto registration feature.
