The EXP3000 Hard Drive Enclosure supports attachment of the DS3000 Series supporting SAS disk drives. Multiple EXP3000s can be connected together to expand capacity of the solution to help address your data needs today and tomorrow. Leveraging SAS technology, the IBM System Storage EXP3000 supports faster maximum data transfer rates than parallel SCSI. SAS drives are also designed to provide full-duplexing, allowing simultaneous in-bound and out-bound communication. Full-duplexing can also provide better performance than parallel connections in which communication occurs in one direction at a time, becoming a potential bottleneck in some environments. With 3 Gbps SAS wide interfaces consisting of 4 channels, aggregate throughput can far exceed what could be reached by Ultra320 SCSI.
