Cisco Connected Grid Modules expand WAN connectivity options by providing access to Code Division Multiple Access/Evolved Data-Only (CDMA/EVDO) cellular networks as well as Global System for Mobile (GSM), Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS), and Evolved High-Speed Packet Access (HSPA+) cellular networks available through various service providers. Wireless connectivity is a convenient alternative to wired connections and serves as the primary WAN connection for the Cisco 1000 Series Connected Grid Routers.
